How Offices Collect Junk

The problem of junk in your office usually stays hidden for a long, long time. This is usually because we don’t approach clutter in our offices in the same way that we approach similar stuff in our homes. In our homes, we can go all Marie Kondo and minimalist, and get rid of items that are broken, unused or not part of our lives anymore. However, in our offices, it’s another story. Perhaps nobody’s used that clunky old beige filing cabinet that obviously got added to the office furniture in the 1980 for years but everybody thinks that someone else is using it (and has a few files in it – at least it did the last time anybody looked). It doesn’t really belong to anybody so nobody really takes responsibility for it. That filing cabinet might be ugly, but so are the strip lights and everybody’s used to it just being there and tuning it out somewhat.

Then comes the decision from on high that brings you nose first into the filing cabinet –metaphorically speaking, we hope, rather than literally. There’s a new person starting in the office so you have to find some work space for them where they can actually fit comfortably. Or there’s a wall being knocked out so you can go for an open plan office – and that’s the wall the filing cabinet is leading against.

Or maybe somebody’s actually had a good look around and decided that an overhaul of the décor is in order. This means that someone is going to have to go through that filing cabinet just in case there is something shoved in there and forgotten that actually may be important (legal files, for example).

Old filing cabinets that nobody uses aren’t the only type of clutter and junk that can accumulate in the office. You wouldn’t believe what we’ve come across in our may years of providing office clearance services in London! All sorts of things can be shoved into a cupboard or a corner and forgotten about, only to become a problem later. There’s the desk with the uneven legs that everybody hates using because it wobbles, the old computer monitor with the monochrome display and a CRT tube, the CPU running Windows 93, the spaghetti tangle of printer cables, the motivational poster that got badly damaged during the notorious office party of 2010, and so forth.

Getting Rid Of Office Clutter

OK, so you’ve suddenly realised, for whatever reason, that the broken, redundant and useless items need to go – meaning furniture and office equipment, not the assistant manager who doesn’t seem to do much except poke his/her nose into everybody else’s business every ten minutes. Now what? If you’re in the throes of an office overhaul or if you’re shifting premises, then you are probably already pretty pushed for time, especially as you may be trying to carry on Business As Usual to keep the clients happy (and the money coming in) while you make the changes. This means that the time needed to gather up the junk, load it into a van or trailer then cart it down to wherever it needs to go isn’t available – and that’s if you know where the bits and pieces need to go in the first place.

Well, at least it’s not available to you in a way that’s convenient. However, our office clearance services are available to you and we have the time and the equipment (and the muscle power) needed for getting rid of any old bits and pieces that have been hanging around your workplace for far too long. We will load it into our trusty vans and trailers and take it all away so it doesn’t bother you – and we dispose of it responsibly (more on that below). Our prices are pretty competitive, too!

We are properly licensed waste handling agents, and we operate throughout London. That’s right – no matter where within the circle of the M25 your business is located, we can come out and remove your office waste and unwanted items. From Croydon to Clapton, Dartford to Deptford and from Romford to Rotherhithe (and everywhere else in the Greater London Metropolitan Area), we’ll collect office rubbish and take it away to where it needs to go. We provide our office clearance services to businesses big and small, so don’t think that you’re too big (or too small) for us to worry about.

What About Recycling And The Environment?

We all know that waste, including e-waste, is a big problem these days and we all really need to do our bit to stop wasting resources and cut down on our impact on the planet. This might have been one of the reasons why nobody really got around to ditching the defunct fax machine. You might be feeling a bit uneasy about the prospect of getting rid of your office waste – especially if you realize that there’s quite a lot that needs to be taken away.

Well, we can ease some of those qualms a bit. We are trained to spot recyclables and reusables, and we can take the items to where they can be dealt with in an environmentally responsible way.

This means that desks and chairs that are in good condition can go down to a second-hand dealer, the paper and cardboard will go to the recycling depot, and the old electronic equipment will go to a proper e-waste recycling facility. It’s only after this that items that really can’t be reused, upcycled or recycled will go to the waste treatment plant, where it will be burned (with the emissions contained and controlled) to generate electricity.

Fun fact: Did you know that the medals for the 2020 Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo have been cast from precious metals salvaged from old computer equipment? This project saw individuals and businesses dropping off their unwanted electronics (laptops, mobile phones, etc.), and about 30 kg of gold, 4100 kg of silver and 2700kg of bronze was collected.

Can’t Wait?

  • null

If you have problems uploading pictures of your waste, please give us a call on 07960-78-78-28 and we’ll see how we can help sort things out.

  • null

Tell us as much as you can about the property where you want the waste taken away from. We really want to know things like possible parking problems, stairs and other quirks like narrow accessways. Again, this helps us give you an accurate estimate over the phone or via email.

  • null

We’re on Twitter and Facebook, so you can send message us with your pictures and questions if you like (and you can follow us to see some of the shenanigans we get up to in the world of waste removal).

Free No Obligation Quote

Free No Obligation Quote

We have additional charges for jobs or items that involve more work or require special processing or treatment by law.

It will be a pleasure for us to give you a free approximate price quote for the collection of your rubbish over the phone. Sending a picture will be an easy way to determine the volume of your rubbish. You can send us a photo via WhatsApp ( 07773 889988 ) or by using our contact us form. However, the exact cost we can give you only when our waste collection truck team comes to your property.

Custom Prices Available

The above prices are for illustrative reasons. Our prices are based primarily on the volume of the waste if it is household, furniture, garden and most of the builders rubbish. If the rubbish is bricks, stones, soil or metals ( building rubbish, known also as rubble), we charge per tonne (one load £250.00 is equal to one tonne). Sometimes, when our customers have more than 1000 kg rubble, we are still able to take it, but the price will be according the weight.

We accept all major credit and debit cards, including American Express.

  • Please be aware that when receiving a quotation, there are several factors to keep in mind:

    • Topwasters vans offer a capacity of 16 cubic yards, which is equivalent to the volume of 2.5 skips.
    • Quotations provided over the phone or via email by our operators are not conclusive as they do not account for the weight of your waste, parking considerations, and access to the property.
    • Our pricing is determined by factors such as weight, volume, loading time, packaging, and disassembly (applicable to furniture and certain appliances, like American-style fridge-freezers).
    • Consideration of access to the property is also an important factor in the overall quotation process.
